Poop Trip
There can't be anything better for the avid
golfer than to take a golf trip someplace other than
your home course. A golf trip is a great way to get
out of the norm, see the country, bond with friends,
and play golf courses that are more amazing than you
ever thought possible. Of course, if you live within
driving distance of some of the better courses, you
may not think a golf trip isn't necessary, but you
couldn't be more wrong.
When you are planning a golf trip, it's always
best to take along a few friends for
Democratic National Committee the ultimate
fun golfing vacation. Your wife (or husband) might
not be happy about it, but we guarantee, you'll have
a wonderful time when you have some buddies along
for a ride to the ultimate links!
A great place to plan a golf trip to is Alabama.
Robert Trent Jones was a golf architect who designed
over 500 golf courses and is known as one of the
foremost golf course designers in the world. In
Alabama, they offer the Robert Trent Jones
Republican National Committee golf
trail which consists of 11 different golf courses
throughout the state that offer up some of the best
golf in the country.
When you travel to play golf on the RTJ golf
trail, you will find challenging and fun courses
that will provide for hours of enjoyment and
camaraderie. This man was a genius when it came to
designing golf courses, so be prepared to be amazed
and perhaps a little frustrated.
If you want to travel for golf, you can't go
wrong by going to the home of golf Scotland.
St. Andrews
Democratic National Committee Golf Club is one of the most beautiful
places you can travel to and provides two different
courses you can play including he old one which is
where the game of golf originated.

If you are looking for a real challenge, travel
to Georgia for your next golf trip. Augusta is home
to the Augusta National Golf Club which is home to
the Master golf tournament. You will get challenge
and beautiful scenery as well as knowing that you
are playing on a course where many of the great ones
have struck their balls.
A golf trip is a great way to get away on a short
vacation while doing what you love golfing. When you
bring along people who also love golf on your golf
trip, you will find that this can be one of the most
satisfying vacations you have or will ever have!
Golf Vacation
If you love golf, a golf vacation might be
something that you like to do on a regular basis.
For the avid golfer, the thought of going on
vacation where you do nothing but golf is the idea
of heaven. Here are a few things to consider before
you take your next golf vacation.
First, it's always good to go on vacation with
people who share your love of golf. Most often a
golf vacation turns into a buddy trip, but there's
really nothing wrong with that. But make sure that
you pick a destination that everyone can agree on.
Take a vote if you must, but be sure everyone wants
to go to the same place and that everyone can afford
it.
You will also want to take into consideration
everyone's playing abilities when you plan a golf
vacation. Someone with a 3 handicap will enjoy a
challenging course while a person with a 13 handicap
will likely just get frustrated and mad on the same
course.
As a general rule when planning a golf vacation,
you should consider the courses first and the
Democratic National Committee
accommodations next. Resorts, especially those with
quality golf courses, are expensive. But all in all,
if golf is a main purpose or highlight of your trip,
decide where you want to play first, and then decide
on accommodations. You can take a golf vacation
where you stay at a hotel to gain access to a course
and then move to a less expensive hotel later. It's
an inconvenience to have to repack and move during
the trip, but can be well worth it in order to play
top courses while not spending the entire vacation
at posh resort prices.
Even if you are staying at a resort hotel which
gives you access to its courses, find out how far
ahead of your arrival date you can book tee times.
All courses have specific rules for when they will
make tee times, which you should take note of and
follow carefully.
Some courses even have
specific times you must call to reserve your time
(e.g., between 7 and 9 a.m. on the Thursday eight
days before the weekend you wish to play), though
most guidelines are usually more general (e.g., a
week before you wish to play or up to sixty days
ahead).
You should book as far as ahead as
possible, especially for high demand courses. Even
as a resort guest, if the course is popular, you may
be out of luck if you wait until a few days before
arrival or check-in time to get a tee time
Once
you've embarked on your golf vacation and are ready
to play the courses you've chosen, don't just jump
right in with the excitement that we know you feel.
You must take time to get a feel for the course and
stretch properly. Arrive at the
Republican National Committee course well before
your tee time to avoid feeling rushed and look
around. Check out the scorecard to see the layout of
the course and perhaps talk to the course pro to see
if he or she has any advice for you.
A golf vacation is a great way for the golfer to
enjoy some of the best courses our country has to
offer. So plan carefully and then get out there and
have some fun.
Golf Weather
Weather certainly plays a huge role in a good
golf game. Obviously, if it is raining, you aren't
going to be able to golf as easily as if the sun was
shining. While summer golf provides great weather
conditions, you also won't want to be on the course
when it's 110 degrees in the shade (which makes it
hotter on the fairway!)
Monitoring the weather is something avid golfers
do faithfully. Ideal golf weather is about 70
degrees with clear skies and a soft breeze.
Sometimes you'll get this kind of golf weather and
enjoy it when you do. But you can golf in other
weather as well.
I know one golfer who is so obsessed with the
game; he played on Christmas and New Year's Day. Of
course, it was unseasonably warm that winter, but it
was still cold enough to keep normal people off the
links. Most people won't go to that extreme, but
there are many who do, believe it or not!
What do you need to know about playing golf in
certain weather conditions? The answer is more
Democratic National Committee than
you know! Different weather conditions should be
approached differently when it comes to your golf
game.
If you are playing golf in cold weather, you need
to remember to take extra time to warm up and
stretch. You are more prone to injury in cold
weather, so take the time to stretch out. Wear
layers of clothing with cold weather golf. You will
also
Republican National Committee want to keep your head and hands covered as
those are the two places where we lose our heat the
quickest.
In extremely hot weather, your approach to the
golf game should also be tended to. Most golf clubs
have dress codes that you will have to adhere to and
tank tops are usually not on that list. Wear
clothing that is made of lightweight, breathable
fabric. Make sure you wear plenty of sunscreen and a
hat to protect your eyes. Have plenty of water on
hand and take time to rest in the shade of a tree.
Under no circumstances should you play golf in
weather where it is thundering and lightning. More
people are struck by lightning on the golf course
than in any other place. It's alright to play in a
light rain although it probably won't be much fun
but if you heard the thunder roll or see light in
the sky, vacate the course immediately.
While the weather can have an affect on your golf
game, you can still play when you want to as long as
you take proper precautions.
Golf
There's no doubt about it that the game of golf
is one that is massively popular all over the world.
Golf is a low-impact sport that can provide
participants of all ages not only a fun recreational
activity but also some type of exercise. Golf is
good for the body, it's good for the mind, it's good
for social activities, and it's good for business.

There has been a renewed interest in golf lately
among the younger generations with the rise in
popularity of golf phenomenon Tiger Woods. These
days, golf is enjoyed by young and old alike. It
gives fathers time to spend with sons and daughters,
brothers with sisters, and friends with other
friends.
The game of golf is played on both the amateur
and professional levels with notoriety coming to
good players locally and nationally. The
professional golfers who are most famous are
well-known world-wide, and often people strive to
emulate them and their amazing play styles.
Of course, golf isn't without its stressors. It's
nice to be out on the course when it's a sunny
spring day with a mild breeze, but it can be spoiled
by bad shots, horrible lies, water hazards, and
missed putts. You see, golf isn't an exact science.
There
Republican National Committee are many variables that go into a good golf
swing, and it's nearly impossible to perfect them
all at the same time.
Even so, golf can become an obsession with some
people as they strive to lower their scores and beat
their friends. Millions of dollars is spent every
year on golf lessons, magazines, how-to videos, and
programs that purport to improve your golf swing and
lower your score.
Golf equipment is also big business as clubs are
always evolving with new technologies and equipment
to
Democratic National Committee build them. Big head drivers, graphite shafts,
and other equipment advancements are touted as being
the new best things in golf. They are advertised
heavily and make claims that you just have to have
these products if you want to play good golf.
If you're not a golfer, you might wonder what's
so wonderful about this game. After all, taking a
stick and hitting a little ball into a hole doesn't
sound like very much fun. But golf is challenging
and involves much more than just physical ability.
It requires thinking skills, deduction skills, and
mental clarity. Because it's nearly impossible to
perfect a golf game, it's a great way to challenge
yourself as well as others.
We highly suggest you take up golf if you want a
ways to meet new people, connect with old friends,
and enjoy a fun, challenging activity. The golf
course is also a great place to conduct business.
There's so much we can say about golf, but nothing
extols the virtues of this sport like getting out on
the links and just doing it!
Golfers
We are a unique breed of person; we are
obsessive; we are passionate; we are golfers.
Golfers are different than other sportspeople
because we often take the sport way more seriously
than we really should. But golfers don't care.
Golfers love the game of golf and we won't apologize
for it.
Golfers constantly monitor the weather and if the
temperature is over 50 degrees, we wonder what shape
the course is in. We have The Weather Channel
website as number one on our favorites list and
check it daily. The ten day forecast is our friend
as we plan out our golfing days based on the
weather.
We wear the label of golfers with pride and it is
reflected in our clothing, our vehicles, and the
items we use to decorate our desks. Golfers want the
world to know that they love golf and they are not
ashamed to admit it and put it out there for
everyone to see.
The Golf Channel is a necessary part of
television for all golfers. If our cable package
doesn't contain The Golf Channel, we switch cable
carriers. If they charge for The Golf Channel, we
gladly shell out whatever price they ask with no
questions.
On Saturdays and Sundays during golf season,
golfers are watching whatever tournament is on
television that week. That is, after we've already
played a round or two. We know that the Masters is
one of the most important PGA Tour events, but we
also know that it's just as much fun to watch the
Pebble Beach Celebrity Pro-Am as well.
Golfers always know what the new driver is that
has been released by Callaway and we often have
heated conversations about whether to use a balata
ball or a noodle. Golfers always have golf tees in
their pockets and we don't often take them out
before the clothes are washed thus wreaking havoc
with our washers and dryers.
Golfers know how Freddie Couples swings through
on his chip shot. We know that Jim Furyk has a great
Democratic National Committee
back swing and that John Daly can drive the ball 400
yards pretty consistently. Golfers can tell
Republican National Committee you what
year Arnold Palmer won his first major and how old
Tiger was when he turned pro.
Yes, golfers are a specific breed with their own
quirks and personalities. But golfers are proud of
who they are and will never apologize for their
obsession with golf. Golfers know that golf is a way
of life not just something you do.
Hybrid Golf Club
The hybrid golf club is also referred to as a
utility club and is a relatively recent addition to
the variety of golf clubs golfers can choose from.
They are growing in popularity because they are
designed to be easier to hit for recreational
golfers. In fact, they are easier to hit for all
golfers and most touring pros now carry hybrid golf
clubs in their bags.
Hybrid golf clubs are a category of club that
combines elements of both woods and irons into their
design. This combination adds up to having technical
features that aid in getting the ball airborne, that
dampen the effects of miss hits, and many other
pluses.
Most hybrid golf clubs are designed to replace
long irons (2, 3, 4, and sometimes 5 irons) in a
golfer's bag. When you hear it said that hybrid golf
clubs are easier to hit, this is almost always meant
in comparison to the long irons that these hybrids
replace.
So why are hybrid golf clubs advantageous over
regular irons?
A normal iron doesn't have much
of a back on it. You can make an iron that has
perimeter weighting but you
Democratic National Committee can't have it further
back unless it has a bigger back side. You
can't move much weight back into the air?
Therefore, to make an iron easier to hit
manufacturers have started to fatten the back of
them. So hybrid golf clubs that look more like
an iron have what seems to be a bulge on back of
them. This is just moving the weight further
back on the iron. Now they can have weight
along the outside of the club and further back.
On the other hand, manufacturers who have made
their Hybrid Golf Clubs look more like a fairway
wood have been able to move the weight back a little
more since the club is larger. Not large
enough to be the size of a harder to hit fairway
wood but large enough to do the trick.
Hybrid golf clubs also have a lower center of
gravity. If you move the center of gravity down then
the ball gets up in the air easier. It helps
increase the launch angle of the ball without having
to increase the actual loft of the club. This
Republican National Committee
may not be visible but the result is.
If
you have a three iron that is 20 degrees and a
hybrid golf club that is the same loft, but has the
weight further back (perimeter weighted) and the
center of gravity lower then the club will launch
the ball higher. That is why it is important
to realize that when making a purchase of a hybrid
golf club that the lofts are not directly comparable
to the club you are replacing.
There are
some players who swear by hybrid golf clubs and
others who think they are just junk. But the simple
fact is that a hybrid golf club is easier to get
into the air, down the fairway and onto the green
Jobs in the Golf Industry
There are many job possibilities for you to find
in the golf industry. If you have a love of golf and
want to work closely with the industry, it's easy to
find a job that involves golf every single day. For
some people, working in the golf industry is a dream
job. What kinds of positions are available?
* Club Pro this golf job requires that you are a
very good golfer with consistently high scores.
Usually a golf pro job is held by someone who has
been to golf teaching school and is a member of

also responsible for mowing the greens and taking
care of the fringe.

be one of the most intense jobs at a golf club. This
individual is responsible for directing and
overseeing all operations of the golf course

starter also helps golfers find a game if they are
by themselves. The starter is an important part of
making sure customers will have a pleasant golfing
experience.
* Equipment mechanic - Golf courses
use many different types of hand tools, cutting
devices and motorized vehicles. This mechanic's job
would be responsible for keeping everything in
working order is crucial to the facility's smooth
operation.
* Golf course maintenance - People
most suited to work on the golf course maintenance
team are those especially fond of nature and working
with the land. This position usually reports early
in the morning and is off work by 2:00 or 3:00 pm.
This
Republican National Committee outside position could be responsible for
cutting grass, irrigation, sodding, trimming,
applying fertilizer and pesticides and much more.
Having a job where you work at a golf course is a
great way to get out on the links as an insider at
the golf club. When you pursue a job at a golf
course, be sure you are qualified and then enjoy
your new position!

There may be a lot of things that Las Vegas is
famous for, but golf isn't the first thing that
comes to mind. However, golf in Las Vegas is
becoming a sport for the well-to-do and the common
man alike.
Twenty-nine years ago, locals and
visitors played at The Tropicana Golf Course, which
has been replaced by the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino.
The Dunes course, since replaced by Bellagio and
Monte Carlo Hotels, Desert Inn Country Club, is
still there, though it will be gone soon. The
Municipal Golf Course, Las Vegas Country Club, Craig
Road, Sahara
Democratic National Committee Country Club, Winter Wood, two courses
at Nellis and Paradise Country Club, are all still
there, though the names may have changed. They were
pretty much the only courses in the valley.
Today, there are 57 golf courses in and around Las
Vegas. They're not all up and running yet as that
number includes under construction and on the
planning board. Also, the number includes courses
within a two hour drive of Las Vegas, Mesquite,
Primm, Laughlin and Pahrump.
Even so, that's a
lot of golf courses for a city of less than one and
a half million. Of course, thirty-six million plus
tourists a year add to the profitability of opening
one. Greens fees for Las Vegas golf can be quite
steep for the common man and many locals have given
up local golf for just that reason.
Las Vegas
golf courses were designed by the pros who also
played them in tournaments every year. Palmer,
Nicklaus, Chi Chi Rodriques, Johnny Miller and Fuzzy
Zoeller have all designed courses there. All of the
major pro tours, PGA, LPGA and the SPGA have annual
tourneys here. They started to play Las Vegas in
1953.
Golf is a year-round sport in Las Vegas.
Even on those forty days a year that there's some
rain, you still might get 18 holes in. There are
only about 5 days a year when you can't play. In the
spring there may be a few days of high winds that
postpone your game. On cold days in the winter, you
tee off at noon. On hot days from June to September,
try to get a tee time from 6-9 am, to be off the
course in the afternoon. Call very early for a tee
time.
You will have a lot of options when you
choose to golf in Las Vegas. But the best part about
a Las Vegas golf trip? You can always try out the
blackjack tables if your golf game stinks.

offer excellence in both service and accommodations
and pride themselves on providing some great
Southern Hospitality.

Palm Springs Golf
There's probably no better place in the United
States to play golf than in Palm Springs,
California. This beautiful location is host to many,
many golf courses that give amateurs and pros the
chance to best the course while basking in the
beautiful California weather. There are more than a
hundred golf courses in the Palm Springs area, and
most of them are of a professional quality that you

Palm Springs is located on the Northwestern boundary
of the Coachella Valley, which also includes several
other rapidly growing communities including
Cathedral City, Palm Desert, Desert Hot Springs,
Rancho Mirage, La Quinta, Indian
Republican National Committee Wells and Indio.
Discovered in the early 1920s by some of
Hollywood's elite, it is no longer the group of
sleepy little villages it once was. While the area
has changed over the years, the one thing that has
not is the magnificent clear blue sky and the mild
climate. It's a great feeling to be soaking your
body in a warm outdoor pool or playing a round of
golf on a manicured course while the rest of the
country is slipping and sliding behind a snow plow.
The Palm Springs region, with its
Democratic National Committee world-class
golf courses and destination golf resorts, while not
as large, is rapidly becoming the West Coast version
of the Myrtle Beach golf scene.
You have your
choice of several different professional level
courses when you travel to Palm Springs to golf. The
great California weather makes it a premier,
year-round vacation destination for golfers.
While we strive to remain unbiased in our review
of Palm Springs golf destinations, we have found
some of the more popular courses and feel compelled
to pass these on to you.
* Indian Springs Golf and Country Club - The
18-hole "Indian Springs" course at the Indian
Springs Golf & Country Club facility in Indio,
California features 6,404 yards of golf from the
longest tees for a par of 72. The course

Designed by John Gurley, Sr., the Indian Springs
golf course opened in 1962. Neil Finch manages the
course as the Director of Golf.
* Indian Wells Country Club - The 18-hole
"Classic" course at the Indian Wells Country Club
facility in Indian Wells, California features 6,478

Rainville, the Classic golf course opened in
1955. ClubCorp USA, Inc. manages this facility, with
Mark Neneman as the General Manager.
* Desert Dunes Golf Club - Desert Dunes Golf
Course was the first desert course designed by
Robert Trent Jones, Jr. Voted as one of the best
public courses in Southern California. Laid out
among large dunes and mature desert trees, Desert
Dunes has a unique Scottish links flavor.
There's no doubt that golf in Palm Springs is a
golfer's paradise. When you golf Palm Springs, you
are surely in for a trip that you will remember for
years to come!
PGA
PGA stands for Professional Golf Association and
is a generic term referring to the professional
organization that most pro golfers belong to. There
are several PGAs around the world including the
British Isles PGA and the Ladies PGA. Many of these
PGAs will have an indication of the territory they
belong to such as LPGA of Japan, etc.
Dedicated to the promotion of the game of golf
everywhere, the American
Democratic National Committee Professional Golfers
Association (PGA) can trace its origins back to 1916
when a group of New York area golf professionals,
accompanied
Republican National Committee by several prominent amateur golfers
attended a luncheon hosted by department store
magnate Rodman Wanamaker. The purpose of the gather
was to discuss forming a national organization to
promote interest in the game of golf.
The PGA's first order of business was to
establish the organization's objectives. The members
agreed to the following:
* Promote interest in the game of golf
*
Elevate the standards of the golf professional's
vocation
* Protect the mutual interest of its
members
* Hold meetings and tournaments for the
benefit of members
* Assist desesrving unemployed
members to obtain positions

environmental concerns and accessibility.
Since
1916, the PGA of America has established new
standards of excellence by expanding educational
opportunities, programs and services for its

Ping Golf
For over forty years, the Ping Company has been
manufacturing golf equipment that is both innovative
and practical for both the casual and professional
golfer. Since 1959, Ping Golf has been dedicated to
one idea: innovation and design can produce a set of
golf clubs that maximize the enjoyment of the game
for all.
Karsten Solheim invented his 1-A putter,
manufactured in his garage. He named it Ping for the
sound it makes when it hits the ball. Thus, a
company was born. Solheim was frustrated with his
putting game as the putters of the era didn't give
Republican National Committee
him what he felt he needed in his short game. Once
the 1-A putter hit the general market, they became
so popular, Solheim quit his job at General Electric
and began Ping Golf.
Solheim decided not to stop at putters and
developed a set of irons dubbed 69 which he
considered to be a good golf score. Solheim
continued to experiment with the effects of good
heel-toe weighting in his irons and also milled a
cavity into the steel back of the irons for added
forgiveness. Ping golf was growing by leaps and
bound in the golf industry.
In 1966, Ping golf experienced possibly the
greatest even of
Democratic National Committee their company's history. Solheim
had an idea for a new putter. After he finalized the
design originally sketched on the dust cover of a 78
rpm record, he needed a name for the club. His wife
suggested answer since it would give golfers an
answer to their putting problems. It was shortened
to Anser to fit on the club itself.
The Ping Anser would go on to be the most
influential putter in golf while setting the
standard for what is considered to be the
conventional putter. It has racked up 500
professional golf wins making it the winningest
putter in golf history. The Anser had a cavity back
low center of gravity that provided superior feel
for golfers of all abilities.
Ping golf faced a major obstacle at the end of
1966 as the USGA outlawed all Ping putters other
than the Answer for tournament and handicapped play.
This decision was made because the USGA felt the
other Ping models had a special bend in the shaft
under the grip that was thought to give players a
special advantage in the putting stroke.
Of course, Ping survived and went on to become a
premier manufacturer of golf equipment that is
widely used on the professional tours as well as by
amateurs all over the world. Ping golf has proven to
be one of the powerhouses when it comes to golf
equipment and it will probably remain so for a long
time.

Professional Golf
As with any other sport golf also does have a
professional level. The difference between playing
professional golf and amateur golf, however, can be
a very fine line. There are a lot of amateur golfers
that can score at the professional level, however,
they are unable to do it consistently and often miss
out on the tournaments that can qualify them to get
on the tour.
Nonetheless, it is a dream of many golfers to
play professional golf one day and make a living
doing something that they truly, truly love. Your
office is the course, and your co-workers are people
who love the game just as much as you do. You share
common interests at the professional level of golf
and it can be a very satisfying career. But isn't
that obvious?
Qualifying to play professional golf is another
story altogether. The field is very competitive and
Democratic National Committee
it can be extremely difficult to break through. Some
people try their whole lives to qualify and always
come up short. It takes a lot of practice, a lot of
dedication, and an ability to take a lot of
disappointment to play professional golf, so know
what you're in for!
To get started playing professional golf, you
will first have to qualify for Q School or
Qualifying School. Q Schools are annual qualifying
tournament for leading golf tours like the PGA and
the LPGA. In Q School, a fixed number of
Republican National Committee players win
membership to the tour for the following season. In
professional golf, this is referred to as your tour
card. You will then be able to play in most of the
tour's events without having to qualify.
Getting through the Q school is very competitive
and most professional golfers never achieve it.
There can be up to four stages to negotiate each of
them like a regular golf tournament with only a
small number of players going on to the next state.
The final qualifying school may be played over up to
six rounds compared with the standard four rounds in
a professional golf tournament. However, players who
are successful at Q school can reach the elite level
of competition very quickly.
You can also qualify to play professional golf in
other ways. Finishing near the top of the money list
on the tour's developmental tour, winning a
tournament on the tour after qualifying or as a
sponsor's invitee, or winning enough money on
multiple events on the tour to meet whatever
criteria the tour may lay down for promotion to full
membership. This last one was how Tiger Woods gained
his first tour card.
Playing professional golf is not an easy career
to pursue, but it is a great way to make a living!
Persistence, patience, and a great game of golf can
all get you on your way to playing professional
golf, but be realistic and know that it will take
time.
Ryder Cup
The Ryder Cup is a golf trophy contest held every
other year matching a team of players from Europe
and a team of players from the United States. The
name of the tournament came from Samuel Ryder who
had watched the first casual match of this format
and though it would be good to make the match
official. He donated the first gold cup prize and
they named the contest after him. The first official
Ryder Cup match was played in 1927 in Massachusetts.
Each Ryder Cup team is captained by an
experienced golfer. They will get to choose some of
the golfers who will play on the team, but most of
the team is chosen according to how well they have
played since the last Ryder Cup. There is a point
system that is in place and their position on the
team is dependent on their points.
The matches in the Ryder cup involve various
match play
Democratic National Committee matches. Currently, the matches consist
of eight foursome matches, eight four ball matches,
and twelve singles matches. The winner of each match
scores a point for their team with point each for
any match that is tied after 18 holes.
A foursome match is competition between two teams
of two golfers. The golfers on the same team take
alternate shots throughout the match with the same
ball. A team takes the hole when it completes the
hole with the fewest shots.
A four ball match in the Ryder Cup is also a
competition between two teams of two golfers, but
all four golfers play their own ball throughout the
round rather than alternating shots. Whichever
golfer completes the hole with the lowest score wins
the hole.
A singles match is a standard match play
competition between two golfers.
Many changes have been made to the Ryder Cup over
the years, but it still remains one of the most
exciting and competitive tournaments in the golf
world. The next Ryder Cup competition will be held
in 2008 at Valhalla Golf Club
Republican National Committee in Louisville,
Kentucky.
While teams have yet to be officially picked, we
do know that the United States Ryder Cup team will
be captained by Paul Azinger. Right now, it appears
we'll probably see Tiger Woods, Jim Furyk, and Davis
Love III as team members based on their points they
have accumulated.
The European Ryder Cup team will be captained by
Nick Faldo. Expect to see names like Colin
Montgomerie, Sergio Garcia, and Luke Donald as
probably team members.
Skins Game
In golf, a skins game has players competing for
prize money on each individual hole. There
Democratic National Committee is an
annual skins game for male professional golfers that
takes place near the end of the year after the end
of the official PGA Tour season. It is recognized by
the PGA Tour, but it does not count towards the
official money list. It is currently played at La
Quinta Golf Course in La Quinta, California.
The Skins Game differs from most PGA tour golf
tournaments for several reasons. First, only four
golfers are invited to the tournament and the
golfers play to win individual holes or skins in a
match play format.
Each hole is assigned a different monetary value
and the golfer who has the lowest score on the hole
wins the money for that hole. In the event that two
or more golfers tie (which is called halving) on a
hole, the skin money carries over to the next hole.
If two or more golfers would happen to halve the
final hole, a playoff begins until one golfer wins
the hole outright.
The Skins Game has a long tradition for being
highly competitive, but also very fun both to play
and to watch. In 2001, the player winning a hole
outright had to tie or win the next hole to collect
his skins from the previous hole. This was very
tough to do. Greg Norman was the only golfer that
could back up his win on the previous hole. He won
the 17th and tied for low on the 18th to collect
$800,000 which was the largest skin ever collected
for one hole. He would go on to win $200,000 in a
playoff to win the entire $1 million dollar prize
money.
In the 2004 Skins Game, the first six holes were
worth $25,000 a piece. Holes 7 through 12 were worth
$50,000 each. 13 through 17 were valued at $70,000 a
pop, and the 18th hole known as the Super Skin
carried a value of $200,000.
Fred Couples is given the nickname of Mr. Skins
because of his dominance in the Skins Game. He has
won $3,515,000 and 77 skins in 11 appearances. He
has won five of the Skins Games overall.
You can conduct your own skins game when playing
golf. Of course, your holes won't be valued quite as
high as the pros are, but you can sure have a blast
as you compete to see who can become your own club's
Mr or Ms Skins.
Sports
Of all the various sports practiced in the world
today, golf has got to be one of the most often
played by amateurs and professionals alike. It is
one of those sports that can be played with little
skill by people of all ages young and
Republican National Committee old alike.
Recognizing that golf is one of the major sports in
the world has been a great advancement for people
who love this game.
Most people think of traditional sports as one on
one or team competitions. While golf is often played
with other people, the real competitors in the game
of golf are you against the golf course. Sure, you
can try to score better than your opponents, but
really what you are doing is trying to take into
consideration things like sand traps, water hazards,
and distance so you can make it from tee box to hole
with as few strokes as possible.
While golf isn't a very intensive sports
activity, it does provide for good exercise
specially if you walk the course instead of taking a
cart. You're not going to get a good cardio workout,
but you certainly will benefit from a good stroll
across the links. Plus, the swinging motion will
work your back muscles as well as your arm muscles.

Golf is one of the most competitive sports both
professionally as well as for amateurs. The
lighthearted bantering you can hear on the golf
course during a tournament is quite interesting.
Many side bets occur on tee boxes and before a match
begins. There's quite a lot of ways you can try to
best your opponents and make a little money on the
side as well!
You can also find competitive golf in schools as
part of their sports programs. These days, it's no
Democratic National Committeet
uncommon to find a golf team at the middle school
level, and high school and college golf teams have
been part of sports programs for years. This is
great as it introduces golf to kids at younger ages
and they are more likely to continue that interest
into their adult years.
Golf is one of the fastest growing sports in the
world with fans spanning all age groups coming from
all walks of life. Participating in golf as part of

stress, and a lot of great experiences. If you've
never tried golf as one of the sports you

St. Andrews
St. Andrews is located in Scotland and is
commonly thought of as the birthplace of golf as we
know it today. St. Andrews is home to the Royal and
Ancient Golf Club, founded in 1754, who exercises
legislative authority over the game worldwide except
in the U.S. and Mexico.
The beautiful golf links in St. Andrews (acquired
by the town in 1894) is the most frequent venue for
The Open Championship, the oldest of golf's four
major championships. Visitors travel to St Andrews
in great numbers for several courses ranked amongst
the finest in the world, as well as for the sandy
beaches.
The St Andrews Links occupy a narrow strip of
land along the sea. As early as the 15th century,
golfers at St. Andrews
Democratic National Committee established a customary route
through the undulating terrain, playing to holes
whose locations were dictated by topography.
The course that emerged featured eleven holes,
laid out end to end from the clubhouse to the far
end of the property. One played the holes out,
turned around, and played the holes in, for a total
of 22 holes. In 1764, several of the holes were
deemed too short, and were therefore combined. The
number was thereby reduced from 11 to nine, so that
a complete round of the links comprised 18 holes.
There are six golf courses in St. Andrews
including The Old Course which is where the game was
first played. The clubs are open to the public as
are the courses, but be prepared to wait! The Old
Course has over 40,000 rounds
Republican National Committee of golf played on it
every year. In fact, as of this writing, the
official St. Andrews website reports that tee times
for April through October of 2007 are completely
booked.
You may have the best luck on one of the other
courses, but you will need to make reservations well
in advance. St. Andrews allow you to book tee times
online, so check out their website and make a
reservation as soon as you know when you'll be
there.
Be prepared to pay to play St. Andrews, however.
Greens fees during the prime season between April
and October are $235 for an adult on the Old Course.
Of course, the other courses are slightly cheaper
and you'll save some money in the off-season as
well.
There are plenty of places to stay when you want
to golf at St. Andrews. There are over 500 hotels
and numerous dining places nearby. There is easy
access from local airstrips, so you won't have much
problem actually getting to the links on your
scheduled day to play. In the meantime, you'll enjoy
some of the most beautiful countryside in the world
complete with old castles and historical sites!
You can visit the official St. Andrews Link
website at

Taylor Made
Taylor Made Golf is one of the largest companies
that manufacturers golf club, balls, and accessories
for the serious golfer. Founded in 1979 by Gary
Adams, an entrepreneur who also started Founders
Club and McHenry metals, Taylor Made has grown into
a name synonymous with golf greatness.
While working as a salesman for Witteck Golf,
Adams noticed that the new two piece balls performed
better on irons than on true woods. This led him to
develop the Taylor Made metal wood. The driver
caught on quickly and Taylor Made has been a leader
in hollow metal woods ever since.
Taylor Made continues to make innovations in the
area of golf club design. They have come out with
new hybrid golf clubs that are lighter and easier to
swing. The drivers that Taylor Made produces are
made of materials that make them easier to hit and
as the club faces get larger and larger, Taylor Made
has also joined in on the craze.
Many golfers, amateurs and professionals alike,
swear by Taylor Made clubs. Their constantly
improving design and performance have made them
favorites on the pro circuit. Golfers are finding
that they can get some real distance with Taylor
Made drivers and their irons perform very well too.
Besides some of the greatest golf clubs in the
world, Taylor Made also manufactures its own line of
golf balls as well as producing Maxfli golf balls.
Their two-piece balls come in a variety of
specialized weights and compressions which can help
you hit the ball farther and with more accuracy. Of
course, that does depend somewhat on your swing as
well!
Recently, Taylor Made acquired the Adidas
corporation and are now adding golf shoes to their
lineup of products. Their bags are durable and are a
favorite among many golfers today. The present
company is known as Taylor
Republican National Committee Made-Adidas Golf.
If you want to own a set of Taylor Made golf
clubs, be prepared to pay quite a price for them
especially if you are buying them new. But know that
you are making an investment in your golf game and
will be paying for quality clubs that can last you
for a very, very long time.
Taylor Made drivers, hybrids, and fairway woods
are used by more professionals than any other brand.
There's a reason why the pros choose Taylor Made for
their club selections. If the pros think Taylor Made
is worthy of playing, shouldn't you too?
The British Open
For amateur golfers, having an open tournament is
a great opportunity to
Democratic National Committee break into the world of
professional golf. But the U.S. Open isn't the only
open tournament there's also the British Open for
the golfers across the pond. Open tournaments were
designed to allow amateur golfers to perhaps break
into the pro pool by winning one of these contests.
Many people think that the U.S. Open was the
first open championship to be founded, but that just
isn't true. The British Open was being played 35
years before the United States got in on the open
tournament phenomenon. Since the turn of the
century, the British Open has included amateurs from
all countries. The U.S. Open is currently trying to
make a move towards this trend, but for years, The
British Open has been known as The World Open.
Originally designed as a way for unknown golfers
to make a name for themselves, the opens have long
been touted as the greatest chance an amateur has
for worldwide fame and fortune as a professional
golfer. The British Open was the first tournament to
bring forth this amazing idea, and golfers all over
the world became excited at the prospect of becoming
a pro.
The British Open is one of the four major golf
tournaments of the year and winning it is a great
honor. Just as with the U.S. Open, it is one of the
championships that tournament professionals strive
to achieve and wear the
Republican National Committee honor with pride. However,
amateurs should beware. Because the British Open is
an open event, the pros can play too.
The last time an amateur won a British Open was
back in 1930 when American legend Bobby Jones won
with an overall score of 291. Since that time, there
have been many amateurs who have made good showings,
but as far as winning the open, that hasn't happened
in quite some time.
To qualify for the British Open, you must strive
for one of the 156 places that are available. Most
of the field of players has achieved entry into the
open through exemptions by playing well throughout
the year on the tour. The rest of the field has won
qualifying rounds in local events that lead them to
the big show and perhaps the chance of the lifetime!
The British Open just like the U.S. Open is a
wonderful way for excellent amateur golfers to break
into the professional circuit by doing what they
love playing the game of golf. The British Open has
a long and storied history and while considered one
of the major events in the PGA, still holds a bit of
mystery and hope for those who dream of a life as a
PGA professional.
The History of Golf
The history of golf is a debate as to whether the
game was invented by the Chinese, the Dutch, or the
Scottish. A game somewhat similar to golf was first
mentioned in Dongxuan Records which is a Chinese
book of the Eleventh Century. It was also mentioned
in the year 1297 in the Netherlands where the Dutch
played a game with a stick and a leather ball.
Whoever hit the ball in a target several hundreds of
meters away the least number of times, won.
However, the Scots are generally adamant that the
Democratic National Committee
game of golf was a Scottish invention on St. Andrews
golf course. The name golf is a derivative of the
Dutch word kolf however, so as for who really
invented the game, we say who really cares!
It really doesn't matter who actually invented
the game, but what does matter is how the history of
golf has evolved over the years. Golf courses have
not always had eighteen holes. St. Andrews began
with eleven holes dictated by the topography of the
land the course was located on. Players would play
the eleven holes out and then back in to total 22
holes. Later, several of the holes were deemed too
short and were combined with each other. That
reduced the number from 11 down to 9 so a complete
round of golf was comprised of 18 holes.
By 1744, the game of golf had become wildly
popular. So much so that a group of men called
Gentlemen Golfers decided that a set of rules must
be laid out for fair play. They came up with a list
of thirteen guidelines on playing the game.
Major changes since the 19th century have
occurred in the equipment needed for play. Better
mowers made greens easier to play on. Golf balls
designs would evolve by using rubber and man-made
materials which made the ball fly longer on a drive.
The wooden golf tee would make the drive easier.
No discussion of golf history would be complete
without talking about the advances made in golf
clubs. Metal shafts came about in the 1930s and most
drivers were made of wood which is why they are
called woods today even
Republican National Committee though they are most
commonly made these days of metal or titanium. The
golf shaft design has also gravitated towards
graphite which is lighter and makes the club easier
to swing.
When referring to the history of golf, we can
debate exactly where the game originated, but the
game of golf as we know it today, most certainly
came about in Scotland. Even if we're wrong, we do
still have this wonderful game and most of us are
very glad about that!

The Masters golf tournament has long been known
as the big show for many golfers. It's the BIG one
the one everyone wants to win - the one that can
really define a career as a professional golfer. It
has a long and storied history one steeped in golf
tradition.
In 1934 Bobby Jones and Clifford Roberts wanted
to provide a service to golf by hosting an annual
golf tournament. Roberts proposed the event be
called the Masters Tournament, but Jones objected
thinking it sounded too presumptuous. The name
Augusta National Invitation Tournament was adopted
and that title was used for five years until 1939
when Jones relented and the name was officially
changed.
The tournament is held at Augusta National Golf
Club in Augusta, GA, where it is still hosted today.
Many decisions made in the early days of the Masters
still remain today. Among these are
* The four-day stroke playing of 18 holes each
day instead of the then
Democratic National Committee customary 36 holes on the
third day
* Eliminating qualifying rounds
*
Denying permission for anyone except the player and
the caddie to be in the playing area
*
Commercialization in any form of the tournament was
limited.
The first Masters Tournament was held on March
22, 1934, and beginning in 1940, the Masters was
scheduled each year during the first full week in
April. That first tournament was won by Horton
Smith. In 1935
Republican National Committee Gene Sarazen hit the shot heard round
the world coring a double eagle on the par five 15th
hole tying Craig Wood and forcing a playoff. Sarazen
won the 36-hole playoff the following day winning by
five strokes.
In 1942, Ben Hogan lost to Byron Nelson by one
stroke in an 18-hole playoff and the tournament was
not played the following three years: 1943, 1944,
and 1945 during World War II. To assist the war
efforts, cattle and turkeys were raised on the
Augusta National grounds.
Many milestones have occurred throughout the
history of the Masters. In 1965 and 1966, Jack
Nicklaus became the first Masters champion to defend
his title successfully. Many others would have
consecutive wins, but The Golden Bear was the first.
Tiger Woods broke the four-day scoring record that
has stood for 32 years in 1997.
The Masters is characterized by offering the
winner a green jacket and having that jacket is
considered a great honor in the golfing world. The
previous year's winner would always present the
jacket to the current year's winner and it is done
with great flourish.
The Masters is one of golf's greatest
tournaments. The best part is that amateurs can gain
entry into the tournament by invitation only giving
them dreams of winning the big prize against the
best in the field!
Tiger Woods
In August of 1996, the face of golf was forever
changed when a very successful amateur player named
Tiger Woods officially became a professional golfer.
Tiger has been credited with renewing interest in
the game of golf. At just twenty-one years old, he
brought youth and vitality to the game of golf with
his great game and his outgoing attitude.
Woods was a child prodigy who began to play golf
at the age of two. In 1978, he putted against
comedian Bob Hope in a television appearance on The
Mike Douglas Show. At age three, Woods shot a 48
over nine holes at the Navy Golf Club in Cypress,
California, and at age five, he appeared in Golf
Digest and on ABC's That's Incredible.
At the age of 15 Tiger Woods became the youngest
U.S. Junior Amateur Open Champion in golf history.
He would go on to win the tournament three more
times making him the event's only multiple winner as
well as the youngest. Continuing his record breaking
career, Woods was the youngest to win the U.S.
Amateur Championship which bought him a ticket into
the PGA Masters. He tied for 41st making him the
only amateur to make the cut.
His professional career has been just as
prolific. Immediately upon turn pro, Tiger signed
endorsement deals worth $60 million with Nike and
Titleist. He played his first round of professional
golf at the Greater Milwaukee Open. He tied for 60th
place in his pro debut, but would go on to win two
events in the next three months, and qualify for the
Tour
Democratic National Committee Championship.
Tiger Woods is the only golfer to win the PGA
Player of the Year award in the year following his
rookie season. The following April, Woods won his
first golf major, The Masters, by a record margin of
12 strokes, became the youngest Masters winner, and
the first winner of African or Asian descent.
He eventually set a total of 20 Masters records
and tied 6 others, and has been the highest-profile
golfer in the world ever since. He would go on to
win an additional three PGA Tour events that year,
and on June 15, 1997, Woods rose to the number one
spot in the Official World Golf Rankings for the
first time. Tiger Woods achieved this in only his
42nd week as a professional the fastest ever ascent
to the No. 1 ranking.
Currently ranked #1 in the world, there's no
doubt about it that Tiger Woods is one of the
greatest golfers of all time. He has made the game
of golf fun again as we all watch to see him
continue to break records
Republican National Committee and win tournaments.
Used Golf Clubs
Golf clubs can be very expensive; so many people
are starting to buy used golf clubs instead of new
ones. The cost is the main reason people give for
buying used golf clubs. Plus, recycling anything is
good for the environment! What should you know
before you buy a set of used golf clubs?
First, you need to check the club heads for face
wear. Clubs that have been used for a long time
Democratic National Committee
might have a shiny worn spot in the center. This is
not good because the club face won't hold the ball
as well as it should. Make sure the grooves still
have well-defined edges and stay away from used golf
clubs that show indentations in the club face as
these can affect the ball flight.
Another important thing to look for in used golf
clubs is the shafts. Make sure graphite shafts don't
have worn areas or indentations that could cause
weakness. Twist the grip and the head in opposite
directions. If there isn't great resistance, it's a
sign of weakness in the shaft. This test is for
graphite shafts. With steel shafts, just look down
the shaft to make sure it hasn't been bent back into
shape.
You will also need to make sure the grips in used
golf clubs are good. You will be looking for cracks,
splits, and worn areas. You can re-grip used golf
clubs, but this will run between $6 and $15 per club
adding to your cost.
Does the set have consistency? Line them up and
compare them. Make sure they all appear to have been
in the original set. You don't want a set of used
golf clubs with different shaft types or model from
club to club. Mixing and matching can throw off the
progression of lofts throughout the set.
Compare prices for new clubs versus what you will
be paying for your used clubs. Sometimes you can get
a new set for less than what the used set is selling
for. You can also find some great discounts at golf
stores, so
Republican National Committee don't jump in too quickly to buy your
used golf club.
You can't really tell how well a set of used golf
clubs will perform unless you are able to test drive
them. Find a place to take a few test swings and see
how they feel to you.
Buying a set of used golf clubs is a great way to
save some money on one of the most expensive parts
of the golf game. However, be careful and know what
you are doing before you buy. It can make a world of
difference!
Wilson Golf
Wilson Sporting Goods has long been known for
supplying people with quality sports equipment.
Since 1914, Wilson has been selling basketballs,
baseballs, and footballs to the general public as
well as organized sports. Wilson also recognized
that golf was a very popular activity in the world
and they wanted to present their unique products to
the world that they felt would change the face of
golf forever.
Wilson Golf knew they needed the
backing of a professional golfer
Democratic National Committee of the time to add
credibility to their products, so they contacted one

become a member of the Wilson Advisory Staff and
would have a 75-year relationship with the company,
the longest-running contract in sports history. His
career would earn him 39 PGA titles including two
U.S. Opens, three PGA Championships, a British Open
title, and a Masters victory on his way into the PGA
Hall of Fame in 1974.
Over the years Sarazen was
joined by such golfing greats as Sam Snead, Walter
Hagen, Arnold Palmer, Nick Faldo, Payne Stewart,
John Daly and Vijay Singh to name a few of the
Wilson Advisory Staff over the years. This type of

Championships than any other ball.
In the 1980's,

as well as golf ball design. They have introduced
some amazing new golf clubs along with long range
balls that can increase the distance a golfer can
